"Swine Flu can be FATAL if you’re overweight or Obese!"

Not a day goes by without a news flash about swine flu. It either scares you out of your wits or you become a somewhat immune to the scare mongering.

BUT these latest research finding ARE a bit scary!

Obesity emerges as new risk factor for severe flu…that’s right…U.S. researchers recently reported .that people who are obese but otherwise healthy, may be at special risk of severe complications and even death from the new H1N1 swine flu virus,

Researchers described the cases of 10 patients at a Michigan hospital who were so ill they had to be put on ventilators. Three died. Nine of the 10 were obese; seven were severely obese, including two of the three who died. Five of these patients had evidence of blood clots in the lungs.

This has not been previously known to occur in patients with severe influenza virus infections. Nine had multiple organ failure, which can be seen in influenza, but five had blood clots in the lungs, and six had kidney failure. None has fully recovered, the researchers said.

The researchers conclude …

”What this is telling us is that there can be severe complications associated with this virus infection, especially in severely obese patients”.

Their study was not designed to see if obesity or anything else poses a special risk factor for flu; but the researchers were surprised to see that seven of the 10 patients were extremely obese.

So with the vaccine for swine flu still a way off…it’s time to tackle the fat and give yourself a better survival chance.

How to use Bathroom Scales

When using bathroom scales, these simple rules must be followed:

1. Always place the scale on thick shag carpeting.

2. Hold tightly onto the sink or shower rod (both when possible) and gradually release the weight of the body onto the scale.

3. Make sure needle placement is accurate by cautiously adjusting the little round knob on the centre-front, very slowly to the left. (Zero is a wide number and should be treated accordingly.)

4. WARNING: Stay away from digital scales. (They are not properly adjustable and therefore inaccurate.)

5. Do not weigh yourself constantly. Every time you stand on the scales it stretches the little springs and wing nuts inside and slowly presses them flat - the result, even with no weight gain whatsoever, is that the scale makes you appear to weigh a little more each time.

Sleep it Off!

No, I'm not talking about the morning after a hangover this time.

I'm talking about sleep being a medically proven way to lose weight.

Think I'm kidding? Well I'm not.

Getting enough sleep will help you to shed the pounds - and conversely - if you don't get enough shut eye you could pile it on.

It's all to do with the hormones we produce when we're asleep. There's been loads of medical research on this topic - and in the USA it's being considered as a prime factor in the fight against obeisity.

If you want to discover more and find out how sleep will help you lose weight - just click in the Eine Article link and read the whole story.
